Who's In Control?
"𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙪𝙨." -Elisabeth Elliot I keep seeing posts promoting this idea that, "you are in control of your life. You control your happiness. You control your future. You control how things affect you. Your thoughts create your reality. You. Are. In. Control." I think these mantras are ultimately destructive. Believing that YOU are ultimately in control of your life puts an extreme amount of pressure on you, and it's disguised as "empowerment". Believing you are ultimately in control of everything pertaining to you is really a lie dressed up as "personal development/self-improvement". You don't need to take on that burdensome pressure of imagining everything depends on you. Because 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 things go differently than you planned, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 they don't go your way, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 you are in a situation that is clearly out of your control, in comes th...
